Please read all of this introductory document

I have had to create extra activities in order to ensure that you have fulfilled the learning outcomes specific to Grade 9 French.  It is important that you do these activities and check the key. Much of the test has been based on these extra activities which give you grammar practise and vocabulary.  The very last activity on Tell Me More Module 4 is on the passé composé with avoir and être.  It is entitled “perfect tense “avoir” and “être”, “Compound Tenses” and “Auxiliaires”.  I would strongly advise you to complete all the activities in the documents that appear on this website first before you attempt to do the passé composé on Tell Me More. The problem with this component on Tell Me More is that there are very few exercises and the past tense with avoir and être are all mixed together.  As a teacher with lots of experience in Second Language Teaching, I know that you need to do a lot of extra exercise to be able to practise this concept and that they cannot  all be mixed together from the onset.

I am  sending you to a website to get extra practice. Copy and paste the result of your practise test into a word document.  You will need to get your work corrected. Make a copy of it and send it to me through our message center or on First Class.  Berube_g@sd36.bc.ca  It would perfect if you could save the 3 documents and put them on a CD. If possible, please give it to me when you come to do your final test which is on Module 4 and final oral interview.  Module 4 test is out of 100.  The three activities on the website are all out of 12 for a total of 36 and the final oral interview is out of 100.  Final breakdown of marks:

Modules                         50%
Tests                              40%
Final oral interview        10%

P.S. parts of the questions for the final oral interview appears on these documents.

The website –  I found this very interesting website.  It is a bit like Tell Me More where it offers grammar explanations. then you can hear it and then you have some exercises to do.  The only difference is that it does not get you to do any oral exercises.

To be able to practice the faire expressions go to http://www.laits.utexas.edu/tex/gr
Click on verbs and then click on faire expressions.

To be able to practice le passé composé with avoir and être go to

http://www.laits.utexas.edu/tex/gr  then click on #10 tense/aspect/mood and choose passé composé avec avoir first and then passé composé avec être.

Bonne chance!  I am looking forward to seeing you for your final interview preferably before the beginning of June.  As you already know you have until June 10th to complete this course.  I would encourage you to keep this website among your favourites if you plan on continuing on with French.  I often send my French 10 students to this website so that they can get extra practise.

P.S.  I forgot another important thing.  You will need to know how to put the accents in French. You can find a separate document in a link on the right hand corner.

Bien à vous,
Mademoiselle Bérubé
